Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Sunday; Alive Alive Oh in the Curragh 3.35 & Wintered Well in the Uttoxeter 2.10. Compare odds and bet.
Having been keen on her before being pulled out of the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot, I’m keeping the faith in Alive Alive Oh (3:35) despite the fact she now heads straight in to Group 1 company and takes on her elders today, including last year’s Oaks heroine Was.
Tommy Stack’s Duke Of Marmalade filly looked a class act when winning a Listed event over this trip at Navan in May and she may just have too much speed for her main market rivals.
Both the aforementioned Was and last year’s Ribblesdale winner Princess Highway are at their best over a bit further, so in receipt of a 12lb weight-for-age allowance, the nod is given to the market leader, who was a best priced 2/1 (Betfred) overnight.
On the domestic front Uttoxeter stages the only National Hunt card of the weekend and Jennie Candlish’s Wintered Well (2:10) is of interest in the Bet365 Novices’ Hurdle.
A bumper winner at Market Rasen last May, the Milan gelding ought to have defied a penalty at Ludlow last month when throwing away victory by hanging left in the closing stages, allowing the useful looking Lemony Bay to take advantage.
That can hopefully be put down to greenness and the five-year-old looks capable of a big run if translating his ability from bumpers. With recent Fakenham winner Lyssio likely to set the market, the selection should be available at an each-way price this morning.
Sunday’s selections:
2:10 Uttoxeter Wintered Well (EW) 8/1 BetVictor
3:35 Curragh Alive Alive Oh 15/8 Bet365
