It’s back to Gowran for Tuesday’s selection, which comes in the opening novice hurdle and in the shape of Midnight Oil (4:10) who opened up 8/11 with Paddy Power this morning.
While the five-year-old may not be one of the stars in the Willie Mullins yard, he is getting the hang of things over hurdles and could improve significantly for meeting better ground. A smooth winner on his penultimate outing, the son of Motivator was earlier a smart performer on the Flat for Luca Cumani, and was most recently seen splitting the useful Art Of Logistics and Waaheb at Fairyhouse.
A 1m4f handicap winner at Newmarket for Cumani, the selection holds entries in a couple of Grade 1 novice events at the Punchestown Festival and would need to be taking this to justify running in either of those.
