Live on Skysports 4: Sun 12.45: A 27/5 (Hills) treble, a Hibs draw and a Hearts win are Peter Sharkey’s picks as he studies the SPL form.
Though they’ve won only once on the road this term, Hearts travel to Pittodrie mindful that they can double that tally against a team that has not breached their defence since January 2010, ie nine league matches ago. It’s an incredible record which suggests that the Jambos’ 23/10 price to win (Stan James) looks a little too frothy.
Home advantage accounts for the Dons’ 5/4 odds (Skybet), but punters expecting Aberdeen’s difficulties in front of goal to continue (they’ve managed only 14 goals in 16 home matches) may fancy either Ladbrokes’ 4/1 for Hearts to be the game’s only scorers, or BetVictor’s 9/1 posted about a 1-0 away win.
Dundee may occupy the SPL’s lowest berth, but they’ve twice given second-placed Motherwell a scare this season. William Hill chalks 7/2 against a Dundee success, but Motherwell have been well supported at 10/11 (Paddy Power) to register maximum points. Ladbrokes’ 6/1 for the visitors to win 1-0 catches the eye, but backers may also fancy hedging their bets by taking Stan James’s 11/4 chalked about the draw.
Hibs and Inverness drew 2-2 when they last met at Easter Road and another draw, available at 5/2 with Stan James, would surprise few observers, especially as Coral’s 6/1 posted about a 1-1 finish, is the correct score market’s most popular outcome.
Having lost only twice at home all season, Ross County’s 5/4 match win odds (bet365) look very decent value prior to their match against Kilmarnock (5/2, Paddy Power) on Saturday. Another win for Ross looks most likely.
The same conclusion applies to Celtic who travel to St Mirren on Sunday priced as BetVictor’s 9/20 favourites. The Saints, next-to-bottom of the table, can be supported at 7/1 (BetVictor.com).
Another team known as the Saints, St Johnstone, host Dundee United at McDiarmid Park on Monday, a fixture which appears to have ‘stalemate’ written all over it.
The pair have drawn each of their two league meetings this term and the probability of a third, priced at 12/5 by bet365, is favoured amongst punters, particularly as four of the duo’s last six meetings have ended with honours even.
