England are odds-on at 4/7 with Coral to win the Grand Slam after the scrappy victory over Italy at Twickenham.
Stuart Lancaster’s men failed to score a try but came out on top 18-11 to give themselves the chance of making it a clean sweep when they face Wales in Cardiff.
The result against the Italians was nevertheless a good one for bookmakers, who had taken plenty of bets on England to beat the visitors by a greater margin.
“England’s recent performances encouraged plenty of punters to back them to cover the handicap against Italy, but the visitors belied their odds with a superb performance at Twickenham, albeit against an under-par England. The win does at least set up the Grand Slam decider in Cardiff next Saturday, which should provide the highest turnover of the tournament,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
