Live on Skysports 1: Sun 12.30: Aberdeen are 23/20 (Hills) to beat Hibs in the SPL and Niall McGinn can fire the Dons to victory.
Four of the last six league and cup encounters between Aberdeen and Hibs have been settled by a single goal and the other two have finished all square so it’s fair to assume that it will be a close affair as the duo lock horns at Pittodrie today.
The Dons have beaten the Hibees twice already this term and as they benefit from home advantage on Sunday, they’re given the nod by bookies, Hills pricing them at 23/20. Pat Fenlon’s men meanwhile, are a 5/2 chance at bet365 but as the visitors have shared the spoils in their last couple, it’s likely that punters will pile into the draw at 13/5 courtesy of BetVictor.
However, Hibs’ don’t arrive in the best of shape having won just one of their last seven, that victory oddly enough coming against Celtic and although Aberdeen aren’t exactly tearing up trees themselves – the heavy loss at Inverness last week a case in point – they have the edge given that pair of victories over the visitors earlier in the campaign.
A close affair nevertheless remains inevitable and accordingly there’s lots to like about Ladbrokes’ 31/10, marked against a Dons success by a one-goal margin. In a match that looks set to produce three or more goals (19/20, bet365), there’s also Stan James’ 17/2 for Craig Brown’s troops to finish on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline and BetVictor quote 17/4 for the hosts to nick it despite going in on level terms at the interval.
Finally, in attack, Niall McGinn has fired the opener in both meetings between the pair this season and the Aberdeen front man is in blistering form, with six goals to his name in five matches. He’s the pick of the bunch then at 9/2 (Skybet) to break the deadlock in the Granite City.
Recommended Bets:
Aberdeen to win by a one-goal margin – 31/10 (Ladbrokes)
Niall McGinn to score first – 9/2 (Skybet)
