Live on Skysports 1: Tues 19.45: Aston Villa are 2/5 (Coral) to beat Bradford in the Capital One Cup and Christian Benteke can strike.
Bradford City hold a 3-1 lead at the half-way point of their Capital One Cup semi-final tie against Aston Villa and the Bantams are a shade of odds-on at 4/5 with Stan James to get the job done and book their place at Wembley.
With a two-goal advantage it’s easy to see why Phil Parkinson’s men are favoured but this is still a League Two team visiting a Premier League One so it’s far from a foregone conclusion that Bradford will contest the final.
Indeed, it’s hard not to fancy Aston Villa to win the actual second leg match itself and bookies agree, Coral quoting Paul Lambert’s men at 2/5 to emerge victorious but whether they will prevail by enough of a margin to get through isn’t quite as clear.
This is because defensively Villa look fragile enough to suggest the Bantams will get on the scoresheet, thus Skybet’s 5/6 for both teams to find the net catches the eye along with bet365’s 4/7 for the contest to produce three or more goals.
In fact, given that it’s hard to call in terms of who will progress, it’s worth focusing on goals and more specifically, the source of them – with the hosts’ Belgian front man Christian Benteke a likely scorer.
The Villa attacker struck a screamer at West Brom on Saturday taking his league and cup tally to ten and he can prove to be a real handful in this showdown. Boylesports chalk 3/1 against Benteke breaking the deadlock but even more appealing is Skybet’s 7/2 for the 22-year-old to notch at least twice.
Recommended Bets:
Christian Benteke to score twice or more – 7/2 (Skybet)
