Man City’s derby defeat to Man Utd has seen boss Roberto Mancini cut to 9/2 from 6/1 by Ladbrokes to be the next manager out of a job.
In a week that also saw his City side eliminated from European competition, Robin van Persie’s last-minute winner has turned up the heat on the Italian, whose side are now six points adrift of their neighbours as they seek to retain the title.
Martin O’Neill remains the favourite in Ladbrokes’ ‘Sack Race’ betting, at 11/10 after his Sunderland side went down 3-1 at home to Chelsea and dropped into the bottom three.
Brian McDermott of fellow strugglers Reading is a 4/1 shot following his team’s defeat at Southampton while Ladbrokes make Rafa Benitez 5/1 and Saints’ Nigel Adkins is available at 8s.
Speaking to Betrescue.com, Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Punters were quick to back Mancini for the sack after Rooney’s second, and along with City’s Europa League disaster the writing could be on the wall for Mancini sooner than we think.”
