Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Tuesday; Umadachar in the 12:40 at Folkestone. Compare odds and bet.
Very disappointing on her hurdles debut at Towcester recently Umadachar (12:40) might be worth chancing in the opening mares’ maiden hurdle at Folkestone this afternoon.
It could be significant that Warren Greatrex gets his four-year-old back on track just 12 days after that flop and it is also worth noting he has upped her ¾ of a mile in trip on a track where she won her bumper.
The grey was a classy filly in the bumper division last term, splitting Call Me A Star and Eleven Fifty Nine at Sandown in March, before finishing third behind the same pairing at Aintree the following month. Both of those contests were Listed races and the aforementioned pair also finished first and second in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter earlier this month.
If she returns to anywhere near that kind of form on her second start over hurdles, she will take plenty of beating, though she obviously has a little to prove after that debut effort. However, on a very average day, she looks worth chancing.
Later on the card, pay close attention to Jonjo O’Neill’s unbeaten Shutthefrontdoor, who makes his hurdles debut in the National Hunt maiden hurdle. He is likely to be short but is worth watching with the future in mind.
Tuesday’s selection:
12:40 Folkestone: Umadachar; 7/4 Skybet
