Rangers were expected to cruise to the Division Three title this season but while Ally McCoist’s boys are still in pole position after eight matches, priced at an unbackable 1/40 by Hills to clinch top spot, it hasn’t quite been the cakewalk many anticipated.
Indeed, the ‘Gers have yet to win a league match on their travels in four attempts, three of which have ended in stalemate and so it would be understandable if punters were reluctant to stump up their hard-earned and back McCoist’s troops at a skinny 1/4 with bet365 to pick up three points at Clyde.
Nonetheless, the Bully Wee are winless in six in all competitions so the Old Firm giants undoubtedly deserve to be favourites and this does look like the day they’ll break their duck on the road, although punters are probably better served seeking value away from the long odds-on quote for an away victory.
In the handicaps for example, Rangers are available at a healthier-looking 4/6 when kicking-off a goal in arrears and Paddy Power post even money against a Light Blues triumph ‘to nil’ against a Clyde side possessing the division’s least prolific attack.
More specifically, bet365 offer 11/2 about McCoist’s charges notching twice without reply, just as they did against Queen’s Park at Ibrox last weekend but it could also be similar to that game in that it could take a while for the ‘Gers to exert their authority on their opponents.
