Rule The World at Cork today

Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Sunday; Rule The World in the 13.40 at Cork. Compare odds and bet.

There is plenty of interesting stuff at both Carlisle and Huntingdon today, but arguably the most exciting youngster on show is Rule The World (1:40) who can land the Grade 3 Paddy Power Phone 1800 721 821 EBF Novice Hurdle at Cork.

The five-year-old won his point at Affane last November and he created a deep impression when making a winning rules debut at Punchestown last month.

The son of Sulamani was handy throughout, jumped with aplomb and won in the manner of a horse full of potential. He finished really strongly that day, indicating that a step up in trip would suit, but it is does seem a little strange that Mouse Morris has decided to stick him straight up to 3m from 2m.

That is the only concern here, but Morris, who has his string in fine form, certainly knows how to handle a good horse and he clearly believes his exciting youngster to be a stayer. The selection was trading at 6/4 with both Boylesports and Paddy Power overnight.

Davy Russell will be hoping to double up with Sea Of Thunder later on the card and it would be no surprise to see him return to winning ways in receipt of 8lbs from Baily Green, who represents Mouse Morris.

The drop back in trip shouldn’t be a concern for Sea Of Thunder, but the tight track won’t be ideal over 2m4f and the ground could be a fraction softer than ideal. He remains an exciting novice chaser on decent ground, however, and he should be watched closely.
