Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Thursday; Hold Court in the 2.10 at Ludlow and Super Duty in the Carlisle 5.00. Compare odds and bet.
Donald McCain sends a fairly strong team up to Carlisle this afternoon and he unleashes one of his big hopes for the season in the shape of Super Duty (5:00) who can make a winning debut over fences in the Solway Holiday Village Beginners’ Chase.
Though the trip is shorter than ideal, the son of Shantou ought to be too good for today’s rivals and the fact that he gets on with things from the front should help him dictate the pace. He’s not short of pace, either.
There isn’t much between him and Nuts N Bolts on their meeting at Ayr in January, but Super Duty has improved considerably since, beating Keys at Ascot before chasing home Simonsig at Aintree. A high-class recruit to fences, the six-year-old should be tough to beat if his jumping is up to scratch.
Evan Williams saddled Court Minstrel to win impressively at Cheltenham on Friday and he introduces a similar type Hold Court (2:10) in Ludlow’s opener.
An impressive bumper winner at the track, he was sent off just 6/1 in a warm contest at Newbury on his final outing in February, where he ran too bad to be true.
Judged on his course success, the five-year-old looks well worth another chance and the Welsh trainer likes to saddle a winner on his regular trips to the Shropshire track.
Thursday’s selections:
2:10 Ludlow: Hold Court; 9/2 Skybet
5:00 Carlisle: Super Duty; 8/11 Skybet
