Mark Webber has been heavily backed at 14/1 ahead of this weekend’s Japan Grand Prix but Lewis Hamilton goes into qualifying as Ladbrokes 2/1 favourite.
After Sebastian Vettel topped the podium last week in Singapore punters have been piling into Red Bull’s chances for back-to-back successes in the Far East, with Mark Webber fancied to win the race at 14/1 and team-mate Vettel for a top three finish (4/5).
Lewis Hamilton was unlucky to retire last time out but the odds favour him to do the business in Suzuka at 2/1, and an interesting gamble is developing on his McLaren successor, Sergio Perez, at 33/1 to pick up 25 points this Sunday.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes told betrescue.com: “Red Bull have a great track record in Japan and punters are certain that’s set to continue this weekend. All the eyes will be on Hamilton following his controversial move and it will be interesting to see if the gamble on Perez lands.”
