England 8-1 to claim World Twenty20 title

England are now 8-1 with Coral to win back-to-back World Twenty20 titles, after they overcame New Zealand by four-wickets.

Luke Wright’s 76 runs from just 43 balls was enough to guide England to victory. The Sussex all-rounder, is now only eight runs behind the tournament’s leading batsman, Brendon McCullum. It’s 6-1 for Wright to go on and claim the leading batsman award, with the New Zealand wicketkeeper, McCullum, 5-1.

“Victory in Pallekele against Sri Lanka on Monday would near enough guarantee England’s progression to the semi-finals, but it may come down to net run rate, should the Windies beat New Zealand,” Coral’s Tim Reynolds told betrescue.com

Steve Finn, who picked up three wickets against New Zealand, is now 10-1 to be the tournament’s leading wicket-taker. The England opener is now only two wickets behind the current leading bowler, Ajantha Mendis, who is 4-1 to take the most tournament wickets.
