Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Monday; Ballyadam Brook in the 16:05 at Listowel Compare odds and bet.
It’s off to Listowel again for Monday’s sole selection, which is again a Terence O’Brien-trained novice chaser. Farrells Fancy may have failed to deliver the goods on his chasing debut yesterday, but O’Brien saddles Ballyadam Brook (4:05) in the John F McGuire Novice Chase and he gets to nod in a competitive four-runner race.
Indeed a case could be made for any of the quartet, but this eight-year-old was a smart novice hurdler this time two years ago (completed a four-timer at this meeting) and, after suffering a serious injury and taking plenty of time to rediscover his form, the son of Alderbrook got his career back on track at Killarney in late August.
He looked beaten early in the home straight, having led early on, but he rallied in a most likeable fashion and won going away in the end. Assuming he has come on for that, he looks sure to go well, despite the fact that he would ideally prefer better ground.
Willie Mullins’ Sweet My Lord should appreciate the step up in trip and heads the market, but at the prices Davy Condon’s mount gets the vote (7/2 with Paddy Power).
High-class hurdler Carlito Brigante needs to leave behind a disappointing run last time and he’d also appreciate better ground than this, while Pride Of The Artic needs to concede 5lbs all round which won’t be easy.
Monday’s selection:
16:05 Listowel: Ballyadam Brook
