Punters are piling into Bradley Wiggins and Ladbrokes have him down as this year’s clear 5/4 favourite going into the Tour de France.
Cadel Evans is the 11/5 2nd fav followed by a large gap to Vincenzo Nibali at 18/1. Mark Cavendish is 8/13 to pull on the green jersey (Wiggins 4/9 for the yellow) and the double for both of them to win their jerseys is 15/2.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “There’s a huge amount of pressure on Wiggins but as far as punters are concerned he’s got this year’s Tour in the bag. Even though we’ll be left empty handed it won’t stop us cheering him on to become the first Brit to win the prestigious event.”
She added: “Since Schleck’s withdrawal it’s become a two-horse race between Wiggins and Evans and we’ve barely laid a penny on anyone else in the outright market.”
