Paul Ferguson has another tip for us at Royal Ascot today; Planteur in the 3.45 at 10/1. Compare odds and bet.
After Frankel’s sensational performance in yesterday’s Queen Anne Stakes, it’s asking a bit much for the meeting to improve as it goes on this year, but this afternoon’s feature contest, the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes, looks a competitive renewal.
Last year’s costly flop So You Think bids for consolation, while The Queen’s Carlton House would be a fitting winner in her Golden Jubilee year. Godolphin’s Farhh is an unknown quantity, though the vote goes to Planteur (3:45) who has solid Group 1 form to his name and represents a bit of each-way value at 10/1.
Now with Marco Botti, he finished ahead of So You Think when third in the Dubai World Cup and he made a pleasing return behind a high-class filly Golden Lilac last month.
The return to 1m2f will be right up his street and, though he finished only fourth in this race last year, this afternoon’s easier ground will be in his favour and he looks capable of going close at a double-figure price.
Elsewhere on the card, the opening Jersey Stakes looks a strong contest this year with unbeaten filly Sentaril falling in to the ‘could be anything’ category. She has looked good on both starts to date, but faces 25 rivals today and doesn’t represent much value at the odds. In the same contest Telwaar looks potentially over-priced at 33/1 judged on his win in the Free Handicap.
