Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Saturday; Overturn in the 5.35 at Royal Ascot. Compare odds and bet.
Though he needs to prove his stamina for the extended 2m5f trip Overturn (5:35) is fancied to land the concluding contest of this year’s Royal Ascot meeting, the Queen Alexandra Stakes.
Donald McCain’s ultra tough dual-purpose performer has finished second in the Champion Hurdle and the Chester Cup (under top-weight) on his last two outings and, while he would prefer better ground, he looks the class act in this field.
In fact, the evergreen eight-year-old was being seriously considered for a crack at the Gold Cup earlier in the week, but connections have instead opted for this easier option and that decision can pay rich dividends. The selection was a best price 4/1 with Betfred on Friday evening.
Elsewhere on the card, the exciting Black Caviar bids to strut her stuff in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, while there is a cracking renewal of the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes, in which Sea Moon will be sent off favourite for Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore.
A classy performer last year, he could well develop in to a top-class ‘older horse’, the sort Stoute excels with, but he wasn’t overly impressive at Goodwood on his reappearance so is best watched in such a warm event.
Memphis Tennessee won well at Chester on his first start at four, Aiken is on a roll and represents the red-hot pairing of John Gosden and William Buick, whilst French raider Dunaden is another who warrants respect in a fascinating race.
