Paul Ferguson brings us one selection from Kempton on Wednesday; Godolphin’s Laatafreet in the 19.00. Compare odds and bet.
There isn’t much to write home about with this afternoon’s meetings, but there are a couple of interesting races this evening, one of which being a 1m2f fillies maiden at Fairyhouse where Dane Street and Along clash again.
There were around 3 lengths between the pair last time, but the latter was really green so it could well be a different story tonight. The form of that maiden is really strong, with the winner winning a Group 3 next time and the runner-up Betterbetterbetter winning a maiden on her next start before finishing second in the Cheshire Oaks and eighth at Epsom on Friday.
There shouldn’t be much between the pair and it is a race worth watching with the future in mind, but as for the evening’s selection that comes from Kempton and in the shape of the unexposed Laatafreet (7:00).
Godolphin’s four-year-old showed he goes well fresh when winning a Leicester maiden last July and he will need to prove that once again, as he hasn’t been seen since.
The Singspiel colt is a half-brother to the smart Honolulu and, despite being burdened with top-weight, Frankie Dettori’s mount is taken to win this handicap for Saeed Bin Suroor for the third time in six years.
Interestingly his 2009 winner Covert Mission had only had one start prior to winning this and the stable has recently proven most capable of readying one from a lay-off. The selection was available at 9/4 with Bet365 on Tuesday evening.
Wednesday’s selection:
7:00 Kempton Laatafreet
