Matters at both ends of the Premier League table appear to look settled now according to the latest odds from Ladbrokes.
Manchester City are just 1/8 to wrap the title up leaving United as 9/2 shots who bank on relegation 5/2 outsiders QPR getting a point or better at the Etihad next week. With both Manchester sides appearing to have straight forward matches it’s also just 4/9 the title is settled on goal difference.
Bolton’s late slip up saw their relegation odds tumble to 1/4 while Blackburn (1/200) and Wigan (22/1) also appear to know their fate in advance of their match on Monday night.
The race to finish third is still open with Arsenal (2/5) leading the way from Tottenham (7/4) while Newcastle are 33/1 outsiders. A top four finish still looks a possibility for Alan Pardew’s men however at 4/1 as Chelsea are 9/1 to sneak in with two games to play.
Finally, Lionel Messi ripped up the record book again and the firm make him odds-on (8/11) to do so next year when it comes to La Liga goals. It’s a similarly short 10/11 he breaks his own ‘all competitions’ tally while he’s just 5/1 to get the century up.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes told betrescue.com: “City backers had to hold their breath today. With the finish line in sight no-one would begrudge them edging towards the payout window.”
He added: “Messi’s star continues to dazzle and we’re not taking any chances next season. Barring injury he looks a shoo-in to break yet more records.”
