Back No No Charlie @ Fontwell

Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Friday; No No Charlie in the Fontwell 20.15 and Saints And Sinners in the Bangor 19.30 each way. Compare odds and bet

Charlie Longsdon provided us with a winner yesterday and the Oxon based trainer can strike again this evening with No No Charlie (8:15) in the bumper that rounds off Fontwell’s seven race card.

The five-year-old has already had three runs and has some solid form in the book. On debut he bumped in to a smart looking Flat bred last October and he was travelling strongly when unseating Kielan Woods half a mile from home on his return to action at Sedgefield last month.

The son of Croco Rouge went on to finish third in what looked a decent contest at Chepstow on Grand National day, leading until the closing stages when appearing to be outstayed by Twelve Roses and Turanjo Bello (who had earlier chased home Melodic Rendezvous who finished runner-up in the Grade 1 at Punchestown last week).

The slight drop in trip should be in his favour here and he sets a fair standard for the newcomers in the line-up.

Longsdon’s Laveroque is interesting in the 2m4f novices’ hurdle at Bangor-On-Dee, after an encouraging return at Kempton recently. Earlier in his career, he finished runner-up to Champion Hurdle winner Rock On Ruby in a Cheltenham bumper and the step up in trip tonight should suit.

He has sound each-way claims, but so too does Saints And Sinners (7:30) who ran well when runner-up to another Longsdon trained horse, Brassick, in a Wetherby bumper in March.

Mick Easterby’s four-year-old finished just under 4 lengths away in second that day and 9 lengths clear of Ballyvoque in third. He had earlier finished runner-up to the useful Rendl Beach and went on to finish midfield in the Grade 2 at Aintree.
The step up in trip should suit Saints And Sinners for his hurdling debut tonight and, though he meets some useful rivals with experience under their belts, he looks worth taking a chance on at the likely odds with his stable in fine form.

Friday’s selections:
7:30 Bangor-On-Dee: Saints And Sinners (each-way)
8:15 Fontwell: No No Charlie
