The weather continues to influence the National as soft ground horses such as West End Rocker (12/1 from 14’s) have attraced support.
“The prolonged dry spell seems to be a thing of the past, certainly over Aintree, and with the going already soft, mudlovers West End Rocker and Giles Cross are the ones for money, with both likely to shorten further should more rain fall in the North-West this week,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
Rock On Ruby, winner of the Champion hurdle, heads Coral’s market for the John Smith’s Aintree Hurdle at 15/8 while Oscar Whisky is 9/4 and Zarkander, stablemate of the fav, is 3/1.
“This National Hunt season has seen numerous big race clashes between runners from Seven Barrows and Ditcheat, and the Aintree Hurdle looks set to provide another showdown, with Paul Nicholls sending out Rock On Ruby and Zarkander in a bid to deny Nicky Henderson more valuable prize money courtesy of Oscar Whisky,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
Henderson is currently 2-5 favourite with Coral to win the trainers’ championship, with Nicholls 7-4.
