Live on Skysports 1: Sun 13.30 & 16.00: Spurs are 4/9 (Paddy Power) to beat Swansea in the Premier League and Newcastle can also win.
Just a few weeks ago Tottenham were in third place with a tight grip on a Champions League place but a run that has seen them take just two points from five matches means that a top four berth is no longer a foregone conclusion. Of course, last Saturday’s stalemate at rivals Chelsea strengthened their position but Harry Redknapp will be keen to get back to winning ways and put any lingering doubts about which European competition Spurs will be in next season, to rest.
Swansea stand between Tottenham and a first league win since early February but at White Hart Lane, Spurs look like worthy favourites at 4/9 with Paddy Power to get the better of Brendan Rodgers’ tidy side, BetVictor’s 17/2 outsiders.
Both teams play attractive football, so an entertaining contest should be on the cards and William Hill’s 21/20 for both of them to get on the scoresheet subsequently catches the eye. In turn, a case can be made for Ladbrokes’ 8/1, marked against a 2-1 Spurs triumph and less specifically, Partybets price a one-goal margin of victory for Redknapp’s charges at an enticing 14/5.
Nobody came closer to breaking the deadlock in the goalless encounter at Stamford Bridge, than Emmanuel Adebayor and the Tottenham front man stands out at 4/1 via Coral to open the scoring in this one. Alternatively, Boylesports offer 11/10 for Adebayor to strike at any stage while Blue Square quote a slightly shorter 5/6 for the contest’s first goal to arrive before the 29-minute mark.
Possessing home advantage and already eight points ahead of the visitors in the table, sixth-placed Newcastle are oddly overpriced at 2/1 with Skybet as they host a Liverpool team arriving on the back of consecutive defeats to struggling opposition. A Magpies victory also look huge at 15/4 (bet365) when combined with a match tally of three or more goals and following his brace at West Brom, Papiss Cisse is worth considering at 13/2 courtesy of Stan James to put his side 1-0 up at St James’ Park.
