Cai Shen has been slashed to 5/1 2nd fav by Coral for Saturday’s Winter Derby following a support for Richard Hannon’s charge
Premio Loco still heads the market at 10/3, with Junoob 13/2.
“The first money came for Cai Shen at 9.30am, and continued throughout the morning, so although the 4-y-o has spent his entire career so far on turf, the support for the colt suggests Lingfield’s polytrack surface is not expected to hinder his chances,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“Although Premio Loco remains at the head of the betting for now, it would be no surprise to see Cai Shen start favourite on Saturday,” added Stevens.
Switching codes, the first two home in last week’s Kim Muir Chase at the Cheltenham Festival have attracted support for next month’s John Smith’s Grand National. Winner Sunnyhillboy is 14/1 (from 20/1) and the runner-up, Becauseicouldntsee, is 16/1 (from 25/1) for the Aintree showpiece.
