Sat 15.00: Championship leaders Southampton are 7/20 (William Hill) to beat struggling Doncaster and they should run out easy winners.
Southampton’s impressive 2-0 success at a solid Hull side in midweek saw Saints open up a five-point gap at the top of the Championship and Nigel Adkins’ men can maintain that lead by cruising to a comfortable win against struggling Doncaster.
Rovers have picked up just one win in a dozen attempts and were hammered 3-0 at home by Millwall on Tuesday, a result that doesn’t bode well ahead of a meeting with a Southampton team whose last nine games have seen them pick up seven victories and two draws.
Nevertheless, at just 7/20 with William Hill Saints aren’t exactly a money-spinner so it could be worth speculating on the extent of a seemingly inevitable home success. The best place for that is the handicaps where bet365 penalise the hosts by a goal at 10/11 but it could be an even more straightforward afternoon for Adkins’ charges, who are 5/2 (Boylesports) to prevail when kick off a couple of goals in arrears.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Coral quote Nottingham Forest at 11/8 to follow up the 7-3 triumph at Leeds by beating Brighton at the City Ground, Peterborough look a little overpriced at 19/10 (Stan James) as they head to out-of-form Barnsley and BetVictor make promotion-chasing Reading 9/10 to get back to winning ways at the expense of Blackpool.
