Paul Ferguson has one selection for us today; Tooka in the 15:00 at Towcester. Compare odds and bet
A very average day’s racing to kick off the week, with a moderate all-weather card at Lingfield and a far from inspiring jumps card at Towcester, but it’s to the Northamptonshire track that we head for the day’s sole selection.
Barton Cliché shaped well on his chase debut a fortnight ago for Neil Mulholland and Lady Clarke, the connections of Gold Cup seventh Midnight Chase, but he reappears pretty quickly here and has to concede weight all round, so preference is for Tooka (3:00) who hasn’t been seen since winning this race last year.
Anthony Middleton’s 11-year-old had a coupe of dual subsequent winners back in second and third that day and, though he’s gone up 9lbs for that success, a similar performance must see him go close here.
Barton Cliché should enjoy the stiff finish given the way he came home at Plumpton last time, but at the prices the vote goes to Tooka.
Monday’s selection:
3:00 Towcester: Tooka (11/4 Ladbrokes)
