Donald McCain has put Peddlers Cross forward for the Jewson Novices’ Chase as a 3/1 fav (Stan James) and not the Arkle Chase.
StanJames.com spokesman Rory Jiwani says, “There had been uncertainty over Peddlers Cross’ target over the last few days and McCain says he has opted for the Jewson because he hasn’t been able to school him as intensively as he would have liked. He was backed in from 7/2 to 3/1 for the Jewson earlier in the day, and last year’s Champion Hurdle runner-up remains that price at the head of the market.
“The Jewson has certainly added some risk for antepost punters since its inception last year, and Peddlers Cross Arkle backers will be forgiven for being disappointed at the change of plan.
“Peddlers Cross’ defection from the Arkle makes Sprinter Sacre an even stronger favourite for the race. We make Nicky Henderson’s Game Spirit winner 8/11 from even money to take the two-mile novice crown.”
