Live on Skysports 2: Sat 17.20: Southampton are 11/8 (Boylesports) to win their Championship clash at Leeds and Rickie Lambert can notch.
Elland Road hasn’t exactly been a fortress this season for patchy Leeds, who have tended to struggle on home soil against the Championship’s stronger teams. The Whites have faced six of the current top eight on their own patch so far, losing five of that half-dozen matches and drawing the other and that’s not a record that bodes well ahead of the visit of second-placed Southampton.
For their part the Saints, worthy favourites at 11/8 via Boylesports, have re-ignited their title push recently winning three out of four and sharing the spoils with table-topping West Ham in the other match and their attacking prowess should fire them to victory against a Leeds outfit conceding goals left, right and centre in front of their own supporters.
Neil Warnock’s side’s defensive frailty can help ensure the match produces three or more goals (10/11, Coral) and it also plays into the hands of Rickie Lambert. The Southampton marksman helped himself to a hat trick at Watford last time out and at 11/2 with bet365 the prolific front man looks the best bet to break the deadlock in West Yorkshire.
Elsewhere in the division, Ipswich had racked up four straight victories before losing to Brighton but they stand out at 5/6 courtesy of Stan James to get back to winning ways against Bristol City and Michael Chopra, who has struck five times in five games tempts at 5/1 (Coral) to strike first for the Tractor Boys.
Struggling Nottingham Forest meanwhile have managed back-to-back successes and look overpriced at 17/10 (William Hill) to prevail at off-colour Barnsley and at the other end of the table Ladbrokes rate Birmingham at 8/15 to overcome Derby.
