Harry Redknapp has drifted from 4/11 to 4/9 with William Hill for the England job after his Spurs side were beaten 5-2 by rivals Arsenal.
Tottenham led 2-0 at one stage but collapsed spectacularly and William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe acknowledged that it gave the hot favourite for the international post a a taster of the scrutiny the job brings, ‘If Harry thinks the reaction to the Spurs’ fans and the media after that result is bad, he may also consider the effect a similar defeat by England might be greeted when and if he becomes boss of the national team’.
Conversely, the result was obviously good news for Arsene Wenger who is now odds-on with William Hill to still to be in charge at the Emirates Stadium on the first day of next season. The Leeds-based firm make him 8/15 still to be there and 11/8 to be gone while his star striker Robin Van Persie is 5/6 to remain with the Gunners next term.
Arsenal are now 11/8 to finish in the top four, Spurs are 1/8 with Chelsea 4/6 and Liverpool 10/3.
