Live on ESPN & BBC ALBA: Sat 12.30 & 15.00: Celtic can beat St Mirren from a goal behind (11/10, bet365) and it’s Hibs v St Johnstone.
League leaders Celtic have the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the SPL table when they kick off against St Mirren at lunchtime tomorrow. With eight away successes to date, Celtic are 2/5 (Partybets) to inflict a fifth home defeat on St Mirren and 3/1 (Skybet) to win by two clear goals.
Although the draw is handsomely priced (4/1, Ladbrokes), it’s difficult to see beyond a Celtic victory, especially when they’re priced at 11/10 (bet365) to win when kicking off with a one goal deficit.
Later tomorrow, Aberdeen travel to Ibrox as 11/1 underdogs (BetVictor) to register a much-needed victory. Yet while Rangers have been in the ascendant in this fixture for some time, they’ve rarely inflicted an absolute hammering on the Dons and Boylesports’ 6/5 for both teams to score is worth a look. Elsewhere, William Hill chalk 3/1 against Aberdeen opening the scoring and Paddy Power consider the chances of the match producing a penalty – as two of the pair’s last five meetings have – as a 9/5 shot.
Three of Inverness’s last four meetings with Hearts have finished 1-1, a record which suggests that Blue Square’s 11/2 for the teams to notch one apiece tomorrow should not be ignored. Indeed, as the Edinburgh side have registered five away draws already this term, Betfred’s 4/1 for both halves to conclude with honours even and Paddy Power’s 16/5 for it to end as a score draw looks equally attractive.
At Easter Road, Stan James install St Johnstone as their marginal 13/8 favourites to overhaul Hibs, while Partybets offer the Edinburgh side at 7/4 to win; Ladbrokes chalk 23/10 about the stalemate.
The sides have shared nine goals in their two meetings so far this term (Hibs’ 3-2 win in September is their only home league success), a record which adds to the appeal of the 8/5 odds (BetVictor) for the game’s total goal minutes to exceed 155. The same could be said of Skybet’s 11/10 for the match to yield more than 2.5 goals.
St Johnstone’s record of retaining ten clean sheets so far this term will be put to the test – William Hill price them at 8/5 to prevent Hibs from scoring, while bet365 chalk an intriguing 10/3 in favour of the away side enjoying a one goal margin of victory.
Bottom club Dunfermline head to Kilmarnock in possession of an abysmal record when it comes to conceding. The Pars have conceded first in 14 of their 21 league matches this term, losing 11 and drawing 3. Killie, rightly in possession of the game’s favourite’s tag (they’re 8/13 with Blue Square) are 1/2 (Stan James) to open the scoring and 15/2 (William Hill) to win 2-0.
Fourth-placed Motherwell, who start as Betfred’s 5/2 underdogs in their match at Dundee United (5/4, Boylesports), boast an excellent away league record, having won seven of their 13 fixtures on the road. Blue Square’s massive 10/1 for them to record a 1-0 victory simply cannot be ignored despite the attraction of Skybet’s 12/5 posted about the draw.
