Live on ESPN: Sat 12.30: In the weekend SPL, Aberdeen and Hibs are 12/5 (bet365) to draw at Pittodrie while Rangers play Inverness.
Buoyed after recording their first away win of the campaign in midweek, Aberdeen welcome Hibs to Pittodrie as they endeavour to register a fourth home win of the season. Bookies believe they will, Boylesports installing them as 5/4 favourites to overhaul the side with whom they drew 0-0 at Easter Road in September.
Yet recently, this fixture has tended not to favour home teams: only once in their last seven meetings has the home side registered a victory, hence Hibs’ 13/5 price (Betfred) to win has found widespread favour; bet365 chalk 12/5 against the draw. Skybet post 5/2 against Aberdeen enjoying a single goal success, while punters can get 7.0 (6/1) at Betdaq against them winning 1-0.
Inverness have already suffered a 2-0 defeat by Rangers this term and Paddy Power think it unlikely the Glasgow side will slip up at Ibrox when the pair meet tomorrow, pricing the champions at 2/7 to win. Thistle recorded a 1-1 draw when the sides last met at Ibrox, but Totesport consider the chances of a repeat outcome to be 12/1.
Elsewhere, place a mammoth 15/2 against Thistle retaining a clean sheet, while Sportingbet chalk 3/1 against them winning when handed a one goal start.
Following their 3-0 success at St Johnstone last weekend, Motherwell are expected to continue their winning ways when they host St Mirren, although few punters anticipate a goalfest. Motherwell are Boylesports’ 10/11 favourites to register three points, but as they’ve scored only six goals at home all season, the 6/1 chalked by bet365 against a 1-0 home success catches the eye.
Hearts beat Dunfermline 2-0 when the sides met in October and a repeat of that score is considered a 13/2 shot by Stan James when the duo lock horns at Tynecastle. The Edinburgh team are 4/6 (Totesport) to secure maximum points and 11/8 with Ladbrokes to lead at the end of both halves.
Home advantage ensures that Kilmarnock kick off as Sportingbet’s 6/4 jollies when they welcome Dundee United. However, the sides have drawn six of their last nine league meetings, a record which adds appeal to Partybets’ 12/5 for it to finish level and to Paddy Power’s 11/2 for it to end 1-1. Betdaq chalk 10.0 (9/1) against a goalless outcome.
On Sunday, St Johnstone welcome Celtic, a side that has conceded just two goals in their last six league matches, scoring 13 in reply.
Much of Celtic’s goalscoring credit goes to Gary Hooper, a man who has notched 10 SPL goals this term; he’s 18/5 at to open the scoring in a match St Johnstone start as Betfred’s colossal 7/1 underdogs, whereas the visitors are Partybets’ 1/2 choice.
Neil Lennon’s men have lost only twice on the road and Skybet’s 13/8 for St Johnstone to win when handed an artificial one-goal start is bound to tempt – the Saints are the only side to have inflicted a home defeat on Celtic this term. Elsewhere, Stan James post 10/11 about both teams finding the net and Ladbrokes offer the Saints at 13/5 to open the scoring.
