Live on ITV1: Tue 20.00: England are Ladbrokes’ 4/5 favourites to win their friendly against Sweden but goals could be a at a premium.
Not many people expected England to get the better of Spain and even fewer fancied Fabio Capello’s troops to keep a clean sheet against the World and European Champions but following their 1-0 Wembley win, punters will definitely be backing the ‘Three Lions’ to defeat Sweden in another friendly contest.
Subsequently, the hosts are just 4/5 at best with Ladbrokes to come out on top while the visitors are 9/2 via Betfred to destroy the feelgood factor created by Saturday’s success.
Capello is set to make plenty of changes with starts likely to be handed to Jack Rodwell, Daniel Sturridge and Kyle Walker while John Terry and Gary Cahill should be paired at centre-half.
The probable line-up is still strong then but despite the wave of optimism created by the Spain triumph, England could struggle to break down the stubborn Swedes, who won eight of their ten Euro 2012 qualifiers and a case can be made for the draw at 13/5 ().
Aside from Frank Lampard’s goal, Capello’s charges produced very little going forward at the weekend and it would be no surprise to see them toil in that department again. Stan James’ 4/5 posted against a tally of fewer than 2.5 goals is a banker then and it might be worth taking a gamble on Skybet’s 10/1 for neither side to break the deadlock.
