Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Miss Altea Blue in the 12.58 at Wincanton and Honky Tonk Highway 3.35 at Sandown. | Free Bets |
The concluding handicap hurdle from Sandown looks to be a competitive affair and on the back of his win in the Gerry Feilden at Newbury (form working out quite well), Navajo Indy is respected, but Honky Tonk Highway (3:35) looks to have been given a chance by the handicapper with an opening mark of 119. Dan Skelton’s mare beat Grade 2 bumper winner Diva Luna (she finished 10th behind that rival at Aintree) in an Irish Point and beat Rula Bula (impressive hurdles winner before finishing second in a Listed race) in a Listed bumper here in March. Runner-up at Warwick on her first start over hurdles, she won a Listed novices’ hurdle here last month and given her clear liking for the track, Dan Skelton’s lightly-raced six-year-old gets the vote.
With an age-allowance and that recent Newbury run under her belt, Miss Altea Blue (12:58) can win the mares’ novices’ hurdle at Wincanton for Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden. Her form was quite strong in France before moving to Ditcheat and although she was beaten a long way in Listed company at Newbury, the Great Pretender filly shaped like she needed the outing and is favoured to I’ve Madeupmymind who ought to appreciate this sharper test.
