Paul Ferguson has two selections from Taunton on Thursday; Boothill at 1.10 and Palmers Hill at 2.15. Compare odds and bet.
Plenty of good action from a number of venues on Thursday, but the horse who I am most looking forward to seeing is Boothill (1:10) who makes his debut over hurdles at Taunton.
Whilst both previous winners set a fair standard, Harry Fry’s five-year-old looked a very smart prospect when winning a Kempton bumper and can make the best possible start, in receipt of 6lbs from the pair. A non-runner in what looked a stronger event at Exeter last week (soft ground), conditions ought to be ideal here, as he didn’t look short of pace when winning his bumper, and that form reads quite well now.
It is also nice to see Palmers Hill (2:15) back in action, and he can defy top-weight in the novices’ handicap chase at the same track.
Jonjo O’Neill’s seven-year-old clearly goes well fresh, having won a Cheltenham handicap on the back of a 288-day break in November 2018, and following a further 461 days on the side-lines, he was narrowly beaten in a competitive handicap hurdle at Kempton. Up 4lbs for that second, he goes up in distance for this chase debut (shouldn’t be a problem), and he looked an exciting prospect when winning his Point-to-Point by 20 lengths back in March 2017.
Thursday’s selections:
1:10 Taunton – Boothill; 5/4 Bet365
2:15 Taunton – Palmers Hill; 9/4 Betfred
