Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Nada To Prada in the Hexham 12:55 and Hell Road 13:40 at Chepstow. Compare odds and bet.
Chepstow stages a fantastic card for the second day of the Jumps Season Opener fixture, and it gets underway with a juvenile hurdle which Paul Nicholls has won five times in the past 10 years. Nicholls saddles an interesting recruit from France this time around, in the shape of Hell Red (1:40) who ran a race full of promise on his sole start at Auteuil, when he chased home Monmiral (also now with Nicholls) having given away plenty of ground. He looks a sure-fire winner over hurdles for his new connections, and although he faces a race-fit rival from the Colin Tizzard yard, the grey is taken to get off the mark here.
Later on the card, the top end of the market looks strong in the Silver Trophy, where Notre Pari could go well for Olly Murphy and JP McManus. Last year’s winner is also respected there, whilst (on the theme of big-field handicaps) at Newmarket, I can see Great White Shark going well in the Cesarewitch. Sky Bet are paying 8 placed in that event.
Up at Hexham, I’m looking forward to seeing Nada To Prada (12:55) make her debut over hurdles, despite the fact that she takes on the boys. A former Irish Points winner, she travelled really well when winning her bumper at Warwick, and given the stamina in her pedigree, this stiff track should play to her strengths.
Saturday’s selections:
12:55 Hexham – Nada To Prada; 10/3 Boylesports
1:40 Chepstow – Hell Red; 10/11 bet365
