Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Friday; Mc Fabulous in the 15:15 and Soaring Glory 16.25 both at Chepstow. Compare odds and bet.
Despite shouldering a 3lbs penalty McFabulous (3:15) is strongly fancied to justify favouritism in the Persian War Novices’ Hurdle on Friday. A taking winner of the EBF Final when last seen, he improved steadily with each race las term, and Paul Nicholls has a fine record in this event, so it is likely that is has been the target for some time. Once the extended novice ruling was announced during the summer (meaning that he was eligible for this race), I immediately had it in mind for him, and I’m sure his trainer did, too.
Of the opposition, both Getaround and One For The Team should make up into nice chasers in time, and it could be that both are switched to fences after this race.
Later on the card Soaring Glory (4:25) can make a winning start over hurdles, in division two of the 2m novices’ hurdle.
Jonjo O’Neill’s five-year-old had one of today’s rivals (Bravemansgame) in behind on two occasions last season in bumpers, and he was twice a winner in that sphere, before probably finding the ground too testing on his final start. That form looks decent, however (the seventh has already struck over hurdles this season), and on better ground, he can make a winning start.
Friday’s selections:
3:15 Chepstow – McFabulous; 8/11 Betfred
4:25 Chepstow – Soaring Glory; 1/1 Paddy Power
