The pick of the jumps action from Fontwell this afternoon could actually come in the concluding bumper, where there are several interesting runners.
An hour earlier, 14 go to post in the extended 2m3f novices’ hurdle, in which I am interested in Valleres (4:39) for Alan King and Daryl Jacob. The Irish Points winner shaped with promise in a Kempton bumper on his sole start for current connections last term, staying on in third, suggesting this step up in trip will suit. Stamina certainly didn’t look an issue when finishing strongly to win his maiden Point, and King won with a similar type in the shape of Es Perfecto earlier in the week.
Of the opposition, Beyond The Pale was a bumper winner last time and hails from the in-form Fergal O’Brien stable, whilst Getalead has some decent bumper form to his name and ran a sound race when just touched off at Perth last month. Both are respected, so it will be interesting to see what price the selection opens up.
