Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Friday; Tea Clipper in the Uttoxeter 15:10. Compare odds and bet.
A non-runner when selected in this column earlier in the week Diamond River is very much one to note at Uttoxeter on Friday, although this looks a slightly stronger race than the one he was set to contest at Warwick.
Stable-mate Fusil Raffles is another to keep close tabs on, in what looks a cracking novices’ chase. A very smart hurdler, he has a fine record fresh, and I expect him to be difficult to beat here, although I also expect him to be priced up accordingly. He is an athletic sort who should take to chasing, so it will be intriguing to see how he fares, up against some decent opposition.
The day’s selection comes later on the card in the shape of Tea Clipper (3:10) who can score for Tom Lacey and Johnny Burke, a pairing who have formed a formidable partnership in the early weeks of the season.
He won his first three starts over hurdles last season, before finishing runner-up at Huntingdon in February, when the winner got first run. Up another 4lbs, he will find life tougher this season, but he is unexposed over this sort of trip and is another with a good record when fresh.
Friday’s selection:
3:10 Uttoxeter – Tea Clipper; 15/8 BetVictor
