Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Skylanna Breeze in the 14:10 and Diamond River 16:55 both at Uttoxeter. Compare odds and bet.
It’s Sky Bet Ebor day at York on Saturday and the feature looks a really good renewal. With several horses I have had onside in the past taking one another on, I’m prepared to watch and head elsewhere for the day’s selections, however.
The jumps action comes from Uttoxeter, where Skylanna Breeze (2:10) should be capable of defying a 10lbs rise in the first division of the extended 2m3f handicap hurdle. The five-year-old had plenty in hand when winning with ease on his recent reappearance at Southwell, and if the Midlands track doesn’t get too much rain, he should take plenty of beating.
In the concluding bumper Diamond River (4:55) is fancied to get off the mark at the third time of asking, for Nicky Henderson and Nico de Boinville. Third in a decent newcomers’ event at Warwick in January, he then finished runner-up in a slowly-run event at Kempton, which I think will turn out to be a strong race. I was, therefore, slightly surprised to see Diamond River out so early, but he sets a fair standard and can take this before going hurdling in the autumn.
Saturday’s selections:
2:10 Uttoxeter – Skylanna Breeze; 5/4 Paddy Power
4:55 Uttoxeter – Diamond River; 11/10 BetVictor
