Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Thursday; Shanroe in the Leopardstown 16:30. Compare odds and bet.
Shanroe (4:30) is a horse who regular readers will know well, and he was a well-backed winner for this column over hurdles in late-June. Karl Thornton’s six-year-old wasn’t best positioned when unable to follow up off a 12lbs higher mark at Cork recently.
Prior to those hurdles runs, the three-times bumper winner won a maiden on the Flat at Limerick, and he returns to the level here. Making his handicap debut under this code, the step up in distance looks sure to suit, and he has been given a chance by the handicapper off a mark of 82. Despite his lack of experience, I’m prepared to keep the faith.
Thursday’s selection:
4:30 Leopardstown – Shanroe; 7/2 Bet365
