Paul Ferguson two selections from Market Rasen for us on Friday; Highly Prized at 2.05 and Bags Grove at 2.40.. Compare odds and bet.
It’s Summer Plate day at Market Rasen on Friday, and I like the chances of BAGS GROOVE (2:40) in the feature.
Off the track since Aintree last April, Harry Fry’s nine-year-old remains lightly-raced and has conditions to suit. At his best on right-handed tracks, the son of Oscar has gone well fresh in the past and appreciates relatively decent ground. A Grade 2 winner as a novice, he was rated 155 at one point that season, but is down to 147 for this return. Fry saddled a winner at Stratford and Bags Groove should be backed each-way.
Good-to-soft ground would be fine for him, but further rain is a concern for HIGHLY PRIZED (2:05) who has been my idea of the winner of the Summer Hurdle since seeing the entries.
An impressive handicap winner at Huntingdon last November, he returns at a time whilst Emma Lavelle is in red-hot form, and has been dropped 2lbs since the Betfair Hurdle. If the rain stays away, this strong-traveller would hold sound claims.
Down at Newmarket, Kipps is of interest once again, but Hughie Morrison has reached for the blinkers as he drops in distance. I’m happy to watch on this occasion, after his fine run at Ascot.
Friday’s selections:
2:05 Market Rasen – Highly Prized; 9/2 bet365
2:40 Market Rasen – Bags Groove; 5/1 bet365
