The middle-distance handicaps have been the races we have fared best in this week and Durston (4:40) can hopefully continue that trend, in Friday’s Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes.
Drawn lower than ideal, a little more rain would probably aid his cause over this sort of trip, but David Simcock’s strong-traveller promises to win a nice prize this season, and he has been gelded since we last saw him in the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes. The big field should help him relax and he can go well under the in-form Jim Crowley.
