Paul Ferguson two selections for us on Saturday; Downtown Getaway in the Kempton 2.40 and Sirwilliamwallace in the 3.45 at NewcastleCompare odds and bet.
After missing out in the Coral Cup on Wednesday, Downtown Getaway (2:40) can land the consolation race – the Silver Plate Handicap Hurdle – at Kempton on Saturday.
A winner over course-and-distance last time, the lightly-raced seven-year-old went up just 5lbs for that narrow defeat of Palmers Hill, and he could still be ahead of the handicapper.
In the same race, Fanfan du Seuil is another to note (hopefully at bigger odds) with the better ground potentially in his favour.
Up at Newcastle, the fourth from that aforementioned Kempton race Polish takes his chance in the novices’ handicap hurdle, but preference there goes to Sirwilliamwallace (3:45) who looks on a fair opening mark of 122. Runner-up to Marown (won easily last weekend) on his penultimate start, Sandy Thomson’s seven-year-old stayed on well to score over 2m5f last time and should appreciate today’s longer trip.
Saturday’s selections:
2:40 Kempton – Downtown Getaway; 7/2 bet365
3:45 Newcastle – Sirwilliamwallace; 15/2 William Hill
