There is some really good stuff from Newbury this afternoon, but equally Warwick stages a decent card, where NUBE NEGRA (2:05) is fancied to win the feature Kingmaker Novices’ Chase.
A course-and-distance winner earlier in the campaign, the drying ground will be in his favour and it is safe to assume that this has been the target for some time. He doesn’t hold an entry in the Arkle, so it is likely to be Aintree after this for Dan Skelton’s speedy six-year-old.
Later on the card, the concluding bumper looks an interesting race on paper, but SIZEABLE SAM (4:25) caught the eye on debut and can go one better.
Beaten just a short-head at Wincanton, the winner ran well under a penalty next time and the third has won since, so the form looks decent, and runners from this yard tend to improve for the run.
