Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Friday; Chantry House in the Cheltenham 12:10 and Cheddleton in the 2.45 at Bangor. Compare odds and bet.
Nicky Henderson provided us with a decent winner during the week and he takes the wraps off the exciting Chantry House (12:10) at Cheltenham this afternoon.
The five-year-old beat two-time hurdles winner Edwardstone in comfortable fashion in a Warwick bumper back in March, where he looked full of potential. In truth, this doesn’t look the strongest novice hurdle by Cheltenham standards and he can make a winning start under Barry Geraghty.
Up at Bangor-on-Dee Cheddleton (2:45) is of interest of Jennie Candlish and Sean Quinlan, following a highly encouraging debut at Wetherby.
Runner-up to Proschema, he was booked for third until Thebannerkingrebel came down and although the winner failed to advertise the form next time, the faller won a Listed event at Haydock last month. Bred to appreciate the testing ground, he will need further in time, but I suspect that he will step forward from that first start and he looked a nice prospect when winning a three-runner bumper in the spring.
Tom George’s Glockenspiel, who also shaped really well when runner-up on debut (beaten just a head), was a winner in France for Andre Fabre and Godolphin, and also won’t mind the testing ground. He sets the standard and will hopefully make the market.
Friday’s selections:
12:10 Cheltenham – Chantry House; 4/6 Paddy Power
2:45 Bangor-on-Dee – Cheddleton; 5/6 Bet365
