Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Sunday; Don’t Shout in the Cheltenham 12:45 and Midnight Run 12:50 at Cork. Compare odds and bet.
Cheltenham gets underway with a typically competitive handicap hurdle, in which I’m siding with the Nigel Twiston-Davies trained Don’t Shout (12:45) who got off the mark at Hereford last month and should appreciate this longer trip.
An opening mark of 120 wouldn’t be anything other than fair judged on his two hurdles runs, but his sixth in a Warwick bumper also reads really well (finished behind Chantry House in a strong race) and being a full-brother to Lisnagar Oscar, he looks open to considerable improvement as he goes up in distance.
Over in Ireland, I will be interested to see how Midnight Run (12:50) is priced up at Cork, where he faces Grade 1 winning bumper mare Colreevy.
Twice a bumper winner himself, he found only Envoi Allen too good in three starts last term and being a full brother to the useful Carefully Selected, should improve for a trip now he goes hurdling. He didn’t look devoid of pace last year, however, so he might be capable of giving the likely market leader a race here over the minimum trip, and if available at an each-way price, he is worth supporting.
