Plumpton stages a really competitive novices’ handicap chase on Monday, in which the progressive Musical Slave is a horse I have plenty of time for.
He was an impressive winner at a Punchestown when last seen and is clearly on the up. He has the scope for fences and could be the best long term prospect in this field, but conceding 9lbs to MY WAY (3:40) might prove difficult this afternoon, with Paul Nicholls’ runner boasting plenty of chasing experience from France.
The five-year-old showed bits of promise over hurdles last term and on the back of a wind-op, he could be ready to take a big step forward.
