Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Thursday; Torn And Frayed in the 14:35 and Truckers Pass 17:20 both at Warwick. Compare odds and bet.
Warwick stages a really decent early-season National Hunt card on Thursday, where Arrivederci is of interest in the opening novices’ hurdle. He represents an in-form team and looked useful on debut last year, whilst the Tom Lacey-trained Tea Clipper impressed when beating experienced rivals on his sole Point-to-Point start.
The second race on the card – the 2m5f maiden hurdle – is another in which a couple of interest make their hurdles debut. Jamie Snowden’s Thomas Macdonagh boasts a couple of useful pieces of bumper form, but Torn And Frayed (2:35) was an eye-catcher on debut at Southwell back in March, when he raced exuberantly on the front-end. He will need to settle better here (especially going up in trip), but he showed distinct signs of promise in that bumper and he, too, hails from an in-form stable, with Nigel Twiston-Davies saddling five winners in the space of three days last week.
Twiston-Davies unleashes smart hurdler Ballymoy over fences in the beginners’ chase, whilst the concluding bumper is another race to look forward to, with the future in mind. Truckers Pass (5:20) was another horse who really caught my eye when runner-up in an Irish Point some 10 months ago, when veering to his left two out surely proved costly. A nice-looking son of Kalanisi, he might well be up to making a winning debut under Rules, on his first start for Philip Hobbs and Brocade Racing.
Thursday’s selections:
2:35 Warwick – Torn And Frayed; 15/2 William Hill
5:20 Warwick – Truckers Pass; 2/1 William Hill
