Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Durston in the Chester 2.05 and Just Herbert in the Musselburgh 4.40. Compare odds and bet.
A winner over course-and-distance earlier in the season Durston (2:05) might well be capable of landing the Listed event at Chester this afternoon, despite finding himself with a bit to find at the weights.
That handicap success came off a mark of just 82, but he went on to run really well in a typically competitive Glorious Goodwood handicap, before travelling well in the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer at Newbury. With conditions in his favour, he has the requisite pace should this develop into a tactical affair and at 9-2 (best price at time of writing) he looks worthy of support.
Up at Musselburgh Just Hubert (4:40) might improve for stepping up to 2m, in the Edinburgh Cup Handicap, following his fifth in the Melrose at York.
Having earlier won at Ripon (1m4f) and Sandown (1m6f), William Muir has already suggested that the 2020 Melbourne Cup could be a long-term target for his three-year-old, and his running style suggests he will relish this longer trip. It is hoped that he is available at an each-way price.
Saturday’s selections:
2:05 Chester – Durston; 4/1 William Hill
4:40 Musselburgh – Just Hubert; 7/2 Betfred
