Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Saturday; Oydis in the Newmarket 4.30. Compare odds and bet.
Today’s action doesn’t look the best by Saturday standards and it will be interesting to see how Durston fares in the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes.
Personally, I would have preferred to have seen him in next Saturday’s Melrose Stakes at York, as he would still have made plenty of appeal from his current mark of 94 (upped 6lbs for his near miss at Glorious Goodwood).
At Newmarket, the improving Oydis (4:30) might well be allowed a soft lead in the fillies’ handicap, which could well result in her completing the hat-trick.
Ralph Beckett’s Nathaniel filly has won twice since being allowed to bowl along and relished the step up in trip at Salisbury last month. She has a lot more on her plate here (off a 12lbs higher mark) but she might be able to dictate once again, and shouldn’t have a problem with the easier ground.
Of the opposition Jedhi is greatly respected, with conditions to suit and with her Newbury form having been given a boost earlier in the week, but the progressive three-year-old is given the nod.
Saturday’s selection:
4:30 Newmarket – Oydis; 15/8 bet365
