Paul Ferguson has three selections for us on Friday; Sea Of Faith in the Newbury 15:05, Al Aakif 15:40 Newbury and Mubtasimah 16:20 at Haydock. Compare odds and bet.
Friday could be a red-letter day for the William Haggas stable, with the Newmarket trainer looking to have three really good chances. Starting off at Newbury, where Sea Of Faith (3:05) can make a winning handicap debut over an extended 1m5f. The Sea The Stars filly beat little when shedding her maiden tag at Doncaster last month, but she remains full of potential and could be better than her opening mark.
Haggas’ unbeaten juvenile Al Aakif (3:40) certainly sets the standard in the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes and can complete the hat-trick for Jim Crowley.
A winner at Nottingham on debut, the Acclamation colt made it two from two under a penalty at York and he looks a potential pattern-class performer.
He faces his stiffest task to date here – with Repartee being one who also impressed when scoring at York on debut – but I’m siding with form over potential on this occasion, and he can complete the hat-trick, before heading for something like the Gimcrack Stakes.
Up at Haydock, Mubtasimah (4:20) is taken to land the novice stakes and complete the across-the-card treble, under Daniel Tudhope. The Dark Angel filly might not have achieved a great deal in winning a four-runner event at York, but she did it in the style of a promising sort and is taken to follow up.
Course-and-distance winner Vitralite is respected, but he has to concede plenty of weight to a potentially smart filly.
